The Fuerteventura International Kite Festival, held at Burro Beach in Corralejo, is a truly spectacular event of incredible beauty and great cultural significance. Established in 1987, this festival has grown into a beloved annual tradition, attracting kite enthusiasts and loyal visitors from around the world. Every November, hundreds of participants gather on the golden sands of Burro Beach, where the festival takes place over three days, typically coinciding with the weekend—making it an ideal outing for both tourists and local residents. It has become one of the most anticipated events on the island, especially for families and children.
Kite lovers from all over the world come together as one big family to enjoy the sun, the golden dunes of Corralejo, and the perfect wind conditions provided by the island’s trade winds. In recent editions, the festival has begun with a special kite-flying exhibition at La Concha Beach in El Cotillo on the day before the official opening in Corralejo.
