A truly special event with over twenty editions to its name, the Kayak Tour of Fuerteventura is a unique experience reserved for a select few. This is not a mass event—places are limited, with typically only 20 to 30 participants. The total route spans 253.81 km, divided into seven stages.
When is the Kayak Tour of Fuerteventura?
This kayak regatta takes place during one of the hottest months of the year, usually between August and September.
Each edition of the Kayak Tour of Fuerteventura begins and ends at the Island Nautical Center in Puerto del Rosario, making the island’s capital the main reference point for this exciting journey.
The Kayak Route Around Fuerteventura
The Kayak Tour of Fuerteventura covers approximately 253.81 km, divided into eight stages, each further split into two segments—except for Stage 4 (Playas Negras – El Puertito), which consists of a single stretch. Each segment represents the distance between a designated entry and exit point along the itinerary.

- Puerto del Rosario – Corralejo
- Corralejo – Los Molinos
- Los Molinos – Playas Negras
- Playas Negras – Punta de Jandía
- Punta de Jandía – Costa Calma
- Costa Calma – Gran Tarajal
- Gran Tarajal – Pozo Negro
- Pozo Negro – Puerto del Rosario

The experience is enriched by sunsets and sunrises at sea, encounters with marine wildlife, and the sense of teamwork required to navigate remote and rugged coastal areas.
Safety During the Kayak Journey
Ensuring the safety of all participants throughout the expedition is a top priority for the organizers. The route and schedule are subject to weather conditions, which are closely monitored at all times. Special attention is given to strong waves and crosswinds, which can impact certain sections of the journey. Participants are strongly advised to check weather forecasts in advance and exercise caution when paddling.
Organization of the Kayak Tour of Fuerteventura
This sporting event is organized by the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through its Department of Sports, as part of its ongoing commitment to promoting nautical sports. The event is officially included in the Canary Islands Canoeing Federation calendar.
